Dan Newlin. This year Memorial Day will be observed on May 30, which is the last Monday of the month. Originally called Decoration Day, the holiday was established to honor soldiers from the Civil War who died while in service. After World War I it was extended to include Americans who have died in all wars. Since Memorial Day was established as a day of remembrance, I thought it’d be nice to take a moment to recognize all the men and women who have served their country in uniform. In the comment area below feel free to post a message of strength and hope and thanks to anyone who has or is presently serving in a branch of the U.S. armed forces.
